Will you look at that, Christmas is over and it is time to move on. Saje has no problem slowly bringing you back to reality. Especially with their #chillvibe song “Lost Tonight.” The chilled beat, with a light chord arp is what we need to ease ourselves in. The sparked chip arp brings us nintendo dreams but realistic realities that we need to see. 1. That we may as well move forward, because going backwards is for the weak. 2. Why stress? Work isn’t till next week friend. 3. Doesn’t the kick excite you?
A good part about this song is the nicely mixed layers. It can be a pain to spend time looking through electronic mixes and find just one with #decent mixing. In this mix,the layers are on equal plains, and give us the reflex #chillvibe which it is meant to give us: stay chill as f*#@ bro. It’s always good to lay down the relax dimensions of our life.
One thing we need to do is give music producers more credit. Saje probably spent a seamless amount of hours pumping through their layers library to get the sounds to work together. Some people might say, ” well, it’s all pre made samples they are using.” Yes and no right! Most of the time you get a sound which you have to apply to a piano scale. This can be troublesome as every sound has to not be on the same plain. You are given sections of time you need to fill with different sounds. Fill the wrong sections with wrong types of sounds and patterns…well…you get crap. So think about that next time you are making fun of music producers. Don’t get me started on mixing and mastering…ooh boy.
The lyrical vocoder really sets the tones for these new #chillvibe songs. Everyone from Skrillex to Ark Patrol have been using vocoder tricks to amplify their own vibes. Even when the vocals come in at @.49 seconds, that vocoder melts in your ears. With all the new music out, you can’t help but do this as so many people have claimed every friggin vocal melody out there. I like what Saje does, and it makes me very happy.
So where do we go from here? Christmas is over and were on to a new adventure. Well people, just dive right into what comes your way. You can’t live life without taking a few risks. Here is a few things you could do before the year is over:
1. Listen to Saje: “Lost Tonight”
2. Accumulate all the Eggnog before it runs out…then drink it.
3. If you are single, choose your New Year’s kiss.
4.Figure out ways to blow up your Christmas tree.
5. Be yourself, and no one else.
I recommend this song to the new year ‘vibers’, I’m ready for what you got planned.
